The fraud and corruption case against the former personal assistant to the then Free State premier Ace Magashule, Moroadi Cholota, is expected to sit for a pre-trial hearing at the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old has been charged with fraud, corruption and money laundering in a matter related to the controversial 2014 Free State asbestos roof eradication project worth R225 million.

Cholota was granted R2500 bail, after a lengthy three-day bail application, last month, and has denied all charges levelled against her.

Last month, the Free State High Court dismissed Cholota’s urgent application with costs – to have her arrest and extradition from the United States of America declared unlawful and unconstitutional.

Judge Mareena Opperman told the defence that they were speculating when they indicated that they wouldn’t be able to obtain redress in the normal pre-trial scheduled for September 11.
