Soccer fans in Limpopo have welcomed the decision between the Polokwane municipality and newly-promoted premiership side, Magesi FC, to host some of the club’s matches at the Seshego Stadium.

The newcomers affectionately known as ‘Dikwena Tša Meetse’, loosely translated as Water Crocodiles, are expected to play some of their games at the newly-revamped Seshego Stadium.

The stadium has been under construction to meet PSL standards.

People residing in the vicinity of the stadium say the move will boost the township economy.

“We are happy as soccer fans that the PSL game is coming to Seshego Stadium. This will help us as we won’t have to drive far to see games. This will help us with entertainment, and even us small business owners will be able to get support from the fans that will be coming here,” says one of the fans.

Magesi Football Club Spokesperson, Abel Rakoma has urged soccer supporters in Seshego to back the team when they play at the stadium.

“The return of football in Seshego by Magesi Football Club … (the club) has decided to contribute to the social cohesion and the well-being of the people football people in Seshego. It’s just a walking distance to walk to the stadium and watch Magesi, the Blue Nation as we are popularly known. We also make an appeal to the people of Seshego and surrounding areas whenever Magesi is playing there (support them).”
