The presiding magistrate in the Pastor Mboro case has dismissed her recusal request. Magistrate Katlego Mokoena says she was not given a chance to explain her side of the story.

This follows Mokoena’s recusal request by the state. The state has indicated that the magistrate might be biased if she remains on the case.

Mboro’s legal team is expected to again apply for bail based on facts that have recently come to light.

The controversial self-proclaimed prophet is facing charges of kidnapping, illegal possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm and assault among others.

Mboro entered the court room in a jovial mood clad in a pink shirt and blue denims.

He started praying saying,” Your grace is sufficient. Thank you, Jesus.”

Magistrate Katlego Mokoena criticised the manner in which the National Prosecuting Authority approached her recusal application explaining that she was not afforded an opportunity to first engage with the state regarding the application.
