The corruption case of former National Assembly Speaker, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula will be heard in the North Gauteng High Court on October 16.

The case will then go through pre-trial proceedings until it is ready for trial.

The former Speaker is accused of soliciting R4-million in bribes from a contractor during her tenure as Defence Minister.

She faces 12 counts of corruption and one of money laundering.

In terms of Section 75(1)(c) of the Criminal Procedure Act, the matter is therefore referred to the North Gauteng High Court otherwise known as the Pretoria High Court for summary trial.”

“That will be on the 16th of October 2024. You are currently on bail, your bail is extended on the condition that you will remain in attendance until the matter is done,” adds Magistrate Mahlangu.
