Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane will on Tuesday attend a memorial service for the 11 learners who lost their lives during the devastating car crash that took place in Merafong, west of Johannesburg last week.

The service will be held at the Grace Bible Church in Carletonville.

It is alleged that the minibus was hit from behind by a bakkie, causing it to overturn and subsequently catch fire.

Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona says, “As you will recall that this incident occurred in and around Kokosi-Wedela area in Merafong, resulting in the loss of 11 learners and their driver that was driving the learners to school.”
