Expelled MK Party MPs to appeal court decision

The 10 expelled MK Party MPs say they will appeal to the Western Cape High Court ruling dismissing their urgent interdict application.

They wanted to prohibit the MK Party from fielding candidates to replace them in the National Assembly.

They also wanted to prohibit Parliament from administering the oath of office of new MK MPs pending the outcome of their review application.

They were expelled from the party early last month.

The High Court found that the applicants have failed to show a prima facie right worthy of their protection.

The court’s decision:

The first applicant in the case, Thamsanqa Khuzwayo says they want to see justice done.

“The agreement entailed that we would be reinstated and also that they would cover our legal fees, so we were happy because we don’t want this matter to be in court to begin with. We were just going there because we want to see justice.”

Khuzwayo has previously said that their party resignation letters were fabricated:
