Political Analyst, Levy Ndou says ordinary voters could be discouraged from voting for the MK Party due to perceived instability in the political organisation.

In the latest round of by-elections held in June, the party was only able to secure one ward in KwaZulu-Natal.

The party also failed to form a coalition government in KZN despite garnering over 45% of the vote in the province.

Ndou says this coupled with the lack of leadership will not inspire confidence in the voters.

“An ordinary voter might start to think twice about voting for this party because the actions that are being taken by the leadership of the MK Party have the potential to discourage the voter from voting for this party. It also has the potential to discourage ordinary citizens to join the party because of what we see now,” he said.

“Its instability, its ill-treatment of individuals and these people are being replaced by those who did not play any role in the election period. It creates a situation where an ordinary voter would end up being confused (by) this exercise and take his or her vote somewhere.”
