A Mozambican national man has been arrested for allegedly being in possession of 34 suspected stolen passports, at the Lebombo port of entry to Mozambique during an operation conducted by guards from the Border Management Authority (BMA).

BMA spokesperson Mmemme Mogotsi says that during the routine inspection, the BMA Border Guards discovered 34 passports accompanied by banknotes in the suspect’s possession.

“During the routine inspection… thirty-two of those passports belonged to Mozambican nationals and two belong to Angolan nationals. A case of possession of suspected stolen property has been opened and further investigations are underway to determine the origins of the passports,” Mogotsi adds.
