N3 toll route near Warden closed off due to veld fires

All lanes on the N3 toll route near Warden in the eastern Free State are currently closed to traffic due to veld fires.

Chief Operating Officer of N3 Toll Concession Thania Dhoogra says a veld fire has been blowing across the road contributing to dangerous driving conditions and poor visibility.

Dhoorga says road users are warned to expect heavy congestion and extensive delays in the Harrismith area and are advised to exercise extreme caution on approaching the district.

“Keep your headlights switched on, do not attempt to drive through thick smoke; and please do not make U-turns on the highway”, she added.

If possible, motorists are advised to delay their trips to the area until further notice.
