Northern Cape man found guilty of raping his niece

The Williston Regional Court in Northern Cape has sentenced a 52-year-old man to 28 years imprisonment for the rape of his 17-year-old niece. The man raped the teenage girl last year when he invited her to his house after she visited her friend.

The uncle threatened her with a knife after the incident.

Police spokesperson, Timothy Sam, says his sentence was suspended for six years and his name is to be recorded in the National Register for Sex Offenders.

The accused has been declared as unfit to possess a firearm.
