The matter between Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi and former Chairperson of Productivity SA and Chief Executive Officer of Thuja Capital, Mthunzi Mdwaba has been postponed to 2 February 2024 at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.

Nxesi filed an urgent court application in November last year for the courts to set aside a R5 billion job creation contract awarded to Thuja Capital by the Unemployment Insurance Fund.

Mdwaba who was fired from his position at Productivity SA has accused Nxesi, along with two other Ministers , of soliciting a R500 million kickback from the R5 billion contract.

Mdwaba was in court earlier.

“It’s very easy for the minister who is busy abusing state resources and court processes to point fingers at people. When we were here last year, he asked for a case management, an expedited process which was granted but today, last night they are withdrawing paragraph 10 of the original affidavit, another 400 pages to withdraw or so and this was them saying they want to review the decision by the UIF to recommend the contract, now they are withdrawing that.”
