Parliament committee wants answers in Adetshina saga

The Chairperson of Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs, Mosa Chabane, has called for the speedy conclusion of investigations into the citizenship status of former Miss SA contestant, Chidimma Adetshina.

Chabane says preliminary investigations raise concerns and has called on the department to finalize its investigation.

This comes after Home Affairs found prima facie evidence suggesting that Adetshina’s mother may have committed fraud and identity theft.

Chabane says the probe should be finalized speedily to provide answers.

“We’ve noted the preliminary report presented by the minister and we note that there’s still a lot to be done in terms of the investigation. By the time the Minister finishes a detailed report, we will be able to have clarity on all the issues that transpired and action ought to be taken if it’s found that there some of those who contributed to these corrupt activities.

Adetshina has since withdrawn from the competition citing safety concerns and the wellbeing of her family as the reason.
