Petrolheads in Kimberley in the Northern Cape say it’s about time spinning is formalised as a sport.

They have again gathered in Kimberley for their much-loved car spinning event. Many say they are looking forward to the plans the new Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie has for the sport.

Leroy Booysens and Kaylan Smith are organisers of the annual spinning festival.

“I think with Gayton McKenzie and his plans that he has for the game I’m going to say it’s about time, we have been at this for many years and not getting the recognition we deserve. Our motivation behind this event is to bring people together and for the love of the sports that’s why we have it annually by team passion. That’s why we do it in the Northern Cape, the diamond city.”
