Police confirm missing Water & Sanitation senior official found dead

Gauteng police have confirmed that the deputy director of the Water and Sanitation Department, Sello Machitje, who went missing on July 8th, has been found dead.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Noxolo Khweza says Machitje was shot dead. His family confirmed that his body was found in the West Rand following his hijacking in the Vaal area.

A suspect, who was found in possession of Machitje’s vehicle in Alexandra, has since been arrested.

“The person as confirmed by the family was that of Sello Machitje. An investigation is ongoing to find the link between the person who has been arrested in possession of his vehicle and the body that has been found,” she says.
