Johannesburg EMS says no major incidents have been reported in the city overnight. This as rain continues across the province of Gauteng.

The South African Weather Services has predicted a drop in temperature and severe thundershowers that might lead to flooding in the southern and central parts of Gauteng over the weekend.

EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi says residents should continue to exercise caution, especially with heating devices.

“Motorists are urged to exercise caution. While driving extend safe following distance avoid crossing flooded roads/bridges. Residents in our informal settlements are urged to avoid crossing river streams when conducting daily activities.”

He adds: “The City of Johannesburg EMS Units remain on high alert over the weekend, monitoring all seven regions of the City for any emergencies which might occur. Residents are urged to call for any life-threatening emergency.”
