Ramaphosa leads SA delegation for SADC’s 44th ordinary summit

Zimbabwe’s capital Harare is a hive of activity as it hosts a SADC Summit.

President Cyril Ramaphosa is leading South Africa’s delegation to the 44th ordinary summit of SADC heads of state and government.

The summit will focus on promoting innovation to unlock opportunities for sustained economic growth in the region.

During the SADC summit, Zimbabwe will take over as chair of SADC, the regional body has been led by Angola since the previous summit in August last year.

The gathering has been preceded by the SADC council of ministers meeting.

It will also focus on critical issues in the region such as the promotion of peace and security, good governance, socio-economic development and integration.

President Ramaphosa is also set to participate in discussions on the agenda of the summit that include the status of member state contributions, regional food and nutrition security, status of health in the region, implementation of the SADC industrialisation strategy and roadmap, as well as candidatures to continental and international organisations.
