ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced plans to construct a village with 1000 homes for congregants of the eBuhleni faction of the Nazareth Baptist Church in Inanda, north of Durban.

The project aims to address housing needs for the faction’s more than five million members.

Ramaphosa announced the plans yesterday during a church service marking the conclusion of the January walk to the holy mountain of Khenani.

Ramaphosa told the congregation: “Mdumiseni Ntuli is the one who will be coordinating that project. He will work with Amakhosi, church pastors, and evangelists of the church. They will foresee that this project is successful. We will build houses here, about one thousand houses with ablution facilities.”

The church has been visited by a number of political leaders from several parties including former President Jacob Zuma more recently.

In 2017, Ramaphosa visited the church to receive blessings ahead of the ANC’s elective conference.

The President also asked for prayers for peace in the country.
