Ramaphosa to address United Nations General Assembly tomorrow

President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York tomorrow.

He is leading the South African delegation to the 79th session of UNGA under the theme “Unity in diversity for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and human dignity for everyone everywhere.”

Ramaphosa is set to focus on a number of issues such as the maintenance of international peace and security, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and implementation of the 2030 agenda, the upcoming climate change talks in Baku, Azerbaijan and financing for development and pandemic preparedness.

He will engage with business leaders as part of attracting foreign direct investment in the country.

Ramaphosa is accompanied by several cabinet ministers including International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola, Minister in the Presidency responsible for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Maropene Ramokgopa and Health Minister  Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi, Environment, Forestry and Fisheries Minister  Dr Dion George and Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Parks Tau.
