The remains of some liberation fighters who passed away in Zimbabwe and Zambia will arrive at the Waterkloof Airforce Base today.

Amongst the 49 remains to be repatriated, Advocate Duma Nokwe, Edwin Makoti- former PAC leader, Florence Mophosho and Basil February.

Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Gayton Mckenzie, and Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Angie Motshekga, will receive the remains.

A Homecoming Ceremony will take place on Friday at Freedom Park in Pretoria to honour the struggle heroes  and provide closure to their families.

Former ANC Secretary General, Advocate Duma Nokwe’s family says this is a remarkable moment as he will finally rest at home.

Nokwe was one of the instrumental figures during the Defiance Campaign in the 50s and he was praised as a fine diplomat of the ANC and he died in Zambia in 1978.

Former PAC leader Edwin Letsholo Makoti’s family echoes the same sentiments and says this is a momentous occasion.

Makoti’s remains have been exhumed from Zimbabwe.

He was one of the founding members of the PAC and died in 1989.
