Road near Kimberley Big Hole closed due to safety concerns

Part of Bultfontein Road near the Big Hole in Kimberley has been closed after recommendations from a technical specialist. It forms part of plans to erect a permanent concrete beam wall to prevent potential safety incidents.

Earlier this month, De Beers Group expressed their concern amid erosion at the Big Hole.

De Beers Group Vice President of Communications, Jackie Mapiloko, “De Beers Group remains concerned about public safety following continuous monitoring of the erosion and break back of the Kimberley Big Hole. We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of the public and the municipality during this critical construction and we apologise for any inconvenience caused to the residents and the public.”
