Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Parks Tau says he hopes trade relations with China can be expanded further.

China is South Africa’s biggest trading partner.

Tau was speaking to the SABC in China during President Cyril Ramaphosa’s state visit to Beijing.

“The principle agreement that we should improve the quality of trade with China is an important part of the visit. We have agreed that we need to focus now on manufactured goods and enhancing the export of manufactured goods from South Africa into the Chinese market,” he says.

Tau further adds: “We have presented a list of 98 products, that include most primary manufactured goods that we would be trading with China and it is part of the agreement we’re presenting.”

China is also hosting this year’s Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Seminar.
