The South African National Zakah Fund (SANZAF) is commemorating 50 years of service to the public by hosting an “amazing race” across Cape Town in celebration of Heritage Month.

SANZAF’s head of projects in the Western Cape, Shireen Kamaldien says the amazing race was aimed at encouraging the youth from all walks of life to become changemakers.

Kamaldien says the race started this morning in the Bo-Kaap in the oldest Mosque in Cape Town.

“The race started in Bo-Kaap at seven o’clock this morning at a location where the oldest mosque in Cape Town is located. After that they proceeded to Hout Bay, Constantia, Kalk Bay, Retreat, Gugulethu, Athlone and Bridgetown, finally ending the race in Salt River. Being Heritage Month the clues the participants had to decipher were about the history of the area that they found themselves in at that point.”
