Patriotic Alliance (PA) Deputy President Kenny Kunene says utterances by South African Communist Party (SACP) General Secretary Solly Mapaila, that the Government of National Unity (GNU) has sold out, are simply unfounded.

Kunene’s comments follow Mapaila’s comments on a popular podcast that not only has the GNU sold out, but was bringing back racism through the back door.

“I think the opinion of the SACP as an alliance partner of the ANC (African National Congress) is what it is. I just don’t understand why they would see the GNU as a sell-out arrangement because the SACP has been working with white people all along. The SACP has ministers that are deployed by the ANC so the SACP has been piggybacking on the ANC. If they are so confident of themselves why don’t they contest elections by themselves? They have been sitting in the ministry,” says Kunene.
