Security officer gunned down in KZN

A 51-year-old security officer has been gunned down on Estuary Drive, in Missionlands, in northern Durban.

It’s alleged that the man was an employee of a Durban-based security company.

He was guarding employees from eThekwini Water Services while they were replacing water pipes in the area.

Local security company director, Prem Balram says, “While reaction officers were on patrol in the area just outside Verulam when they were flagged down by a passerby. They were informed that several gunshots were fired in the vicinity and the officers then called for backup.”

“He [officer] then investigated and found a Nissan bakkie with gunshots. He approached the vehicle and found a 51-year-old with gunshot wounds to the head and body. He called paramedics who pronounced the man dead on the scene.”
