Shivambu’s resignation from EFF comes as no surprise: ACDP

The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP)’s deputy president Wayne Thring says the resignation of Floyd Shivambu from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) comes as no surprise.

Shivambu announced his resignation from the EFF and all its structures as well as Parliament in a media briefing in Johannesburg on Thursday.

At the briefing, the EFF also announced MP Mzwanele Manyi’s resignation. Both Shivambu and Many have joined the uMkhonto we Sizwe party.

Thring says both resignations were expected.

“The ACDP is not surprised by the resignation of EFF Deputy President, as well as Mr Mzwanele Manyi because of rumors about tension and conflict between leadership and other members of EFF who are not happy with the direction party was taking.”
