Men’s world number one, Jannik Sinner of Italy, and women’s world number two, Belorussian Aryna Sabalenka, will confidently head to New York for next week’s US Open.

The duo won the singles titles at the Cincinnati Open. Sinner who won his maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January, defeated unseeded American Frances Tiafoe 7-6, 6-2 for a fifth title this season.

This came as a relief to Sinner as he has been struggling with a hip injury.

Sabalenka has been struggling with injury issues, particularly her shoulder as a result she missed the Wimbledon Championship. However, she won her second title since lifting the Australian Open crown in Melbourne at the beginning of the year.

The third seed defeated another American, sixth-seeded Jessica Pegula, 6-3, 7-5 in the Cincinnati final.
