Like a great old steam engine, Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has built a destructive rugby machine capable of flattening all before it. And with that comes experience.

The most experienced Springbok squad in history was selected for the series decider against Ireland in Durban on Saturday.

The World Cup Champions lead the two-match series one-nil following their victory over the world’s second-best team at Loftus Versfeld last weekend. They eye a series of clean sweeps but should guard against complacency.

Springbok coach, Rassie Erasmus has released nine players who are not involved in Saturday’s series decider against Ireland at Kings Park in Durban, to their provincial unions.

Six of the nine players, all of whom will rejoin the Boks on Sunday, have Test caps. They are prop Trevor Nyakane, wings MakazoleMapimpi and Edwill van der Merwe, Andre Esterhuizen and Lukhanyo Am who both are centres, and fullback ApheleleFassi.

These players will play Currie Cup rugby this weekend to get some valuable game time ahead of the historic Test against Portugal on the 20th of this month. Erasmus is expected to select an experimental team for the match in Bloemfontein.
