Sudan pursues ceasefire talks, meeting to be held in Geneva

The Sudanese government says it’s sending a delegation to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia to consult with the United States regarding an invitation to participate in ceasefire negotiations.

The talks, expected to be held in Geneva on Wednesday next week, aim to end the 15-month war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces paramilitary.

The Geneva talks, which the RSF has agreed to attend, would be the first major attempt to mediate between the two warring sides in Sudan in months.
