Founder of Great Girls says her organisation is working hard to create environments where women feel safe

The founder of the NGO, Great Girls, says her organisation is working hard to create environments where women and girls feel safe. This is in order to reduce the high levels of gender-based violence (GBV) in South Africa.

Kristina Miller says the safety of women should be prioritised in all sectors of society. She was speaking online, during a panel discussion hosted by the Western Cape Government, held to commemorate 16 days of activism against gender-based violence. Miller says her organisation aims to be proactive in making women feel safe.

“It’s around creating environments where women can be psychologically, physically, financially, workwise, mentally, all of those spaces can feel safe and safe to dream and safe to aspire to purposeful and meaningful lives which. ay be employed or at home or whatever that woman deems fit for herself and has the opportunity to make those choices without fear, without having to fit into a societal construct that patriarchy or society has created for her and be able to determine her own outcomes,” says Kristina Miller.
