The trial of a learner accused of bullying a fellow learner at Mbilwi Secondary School is expected to start at the Thohoyandou Children’s Court in Limpopo.

The accused was depicted in a video that went viral, allegedly assaulting a fellow learner outside the school.

Lufuno Mavhunga, the victim, later committed suicide by overdosing on pills three years ago.

The accused is expected to be tried for a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

The case was postponed for trial and arrangements of a Xhosa interpreter.

The minor had her assault case heard in camera, with only her parents, a legal representative and the prosecutor present in court and was in the custody of her parents.

The trial will take place over two days on Wednesday and Thursday.
