Two arrested for Northern Cape elderly farmer’s murder

Police have arrested two men, while more are on the run, for the alleged murder of an elderly farmer near Kuruman in the Northern Cape yesterday.

Police Spokesperson,  Cherelle Ehlers says the body of 81-year-old, Hendrik Venter was found at the gate of a neighbouring farm.

The body of Venter who visited cattle posts earlier was found with wounds to the head.

Ehlers says an undisclosed amount of money was also missing.

She says, “The police were immediately notified, and the 72-hour activation plan was implemented.  A search operation, comprising of units from Kuruman,  including K9, visible policing,  highway patrol, crime intelligence, and local criminal record centre, was activated to search for the suspects. “

Ehlers says, “At approximately 18:00, three suspects were tracked near Hotazel, two suspects fled and third man (25) was apprehended. It is believed that four suspects are still at large, and the tracing operation continues.”
