Two bodies were burnt beyond recognition last night in a fatal vehicle crash that left three people dead on the N6 outside East London.

It is alleged that an SUV and rigid truck collided, with both vehicles carrying two occupants each. Eastern Cape Transport spokesperson Unathi Binqose says the SUV caught fire.

Binqose says the co-driver of the truck was rushed to Frere Hospital with major injuries.

“And two of whom died in an inferno where they were burnt beyond recognition to the point where we could not even determine race or gender of the two. The MEC for transport Mr Xolile Nqata is extending his condolences to the families of the deceased while wishing the person in hospital a speedy and full recovery.”
