Two people have been reported missing in flooding after the collapse of the Riverlands Dam wall in Malmesbury in the Swartland of the Western Cape.
The floods have damaged a number of homes in the area.
Humanitarian aid organisation, Gift of the Givers, says thousands of people have been displaced.
Spokesperson Ali Sablay says residents of Dessenberg called to inform them of the collapse.
He says, “We were then called by the Swartland, District Municipality and the local disaster risk management teams asking for our urgent assistance. Gift of the Givers teams are en-route to assist the community with urgent humanitarian aid and our teams will do assessments once on the ground.”
