Cape Town police have arrested 24 and 18-year-old suspects in separate incidents for the possession of firearms and drugs.
Police say upon searching the 24-year-old in Silwood Heights in Rondebosch, 50 mandrax tablets were found.
Spokesperson Wesley Twiggs says the suspect is expected to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court today.
Twigg says in Philippi East, they arrested the other suspect for the possession of a firearm and ammunition.
“Police members were busy with crime prevention interventions when they noticed a male walking in the road and the members asked him to stop but he started running. The members gave chase, apprehended the male and searched him. He was found in possession of a 9mm pistol with seven rounds of ammunition. He will appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Friday.”
