uMkhonto weSizwe Party says it has lodged several concerns with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) as they are unhappy with how the election results were conducted.

The party says it will be approaching the Electoral Court over the matter.

MK is calling for the immediate manual counting of the votes.

It says they reject the outcome of the results currently displayed on the IEC’s results board.

Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela says they have communicated this decision with party leader Jacob Zuma.

Ndhlela says the current results are not a true reflection of how the party fared in these elections.

Earlier on Friday morning, both the IEC results board and website went down for over an hour.

It is still unclear what could have caused the crash, and the IEC said it was investigating the cause of the crash.

Zuma’s MK Party has successfully established itself as one of the ANC’s biggest challenges in this elections.

The party has made significant gains, surpassing both the ANC and IFP in KwaZulu-Natal.

Meanwhile, on Friday, the IEC said election results will not be announced on Saturday due to objections and appeals.

IEC Deputy CEO, Mawethu Mosery says the commission has received more than a hundred objections.
