The African National Congress (ANC) in the Western Cape says its provincial conference will take place early next year.

This is one of the resolutions adopted at its recent Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) meeting.

The IPC met to also look at the final elections report from the Provincial Elections Team, as well as deal with organisational matters presented before it by the Interim Provincial Working Committee.

ANC regional head of communications, Sifiso Mtsweni, says: “Going forward we are going to prepare our structures on the ground for branch general meetings in preparation for the regional and provincial conference. As you are aware, the national executive committee had taken a decision that all provincial conferences must take place and the IPC mandate is to renew the structures in the province and ensure that we prepare them to conference.”

During the party’s various Local Government Elections campaigns in the province, the ANC said its aim was to reduce the Democratic Alliance’s majority in its strongholds.

Speaking at a campaign near Atlantis, President Cyril Ramaphosa told supporters that the party has fielded the best candidates ever who will deliver and have pledged to rid municipalities of corruption.
