President Cyril Ramaphosa has congratulated the national soccer team Bafana Bafana. Bafana Bafana defeated Cape Verde on penalties on Saturday night in Côte d’Ivoire to advance to the AFCON semi-finals.

The President made the comments in Mams Mall, Pretoria, on Sunday, where the African National Congress was out in full swing for the last voter registration weekend.

Ramaphosa says that he will personally call the national squad to congratulate them.

“I am overjoyed, and the Bafana Bafana team really pleased us last night, and my heart did not stop, as you can see, azange ime inhliziyo yami [My heart didn’t stop] because they played so well and made us all proud as South Africans. So now we go to the semi-final, and I’m sure that our boys will do well. So I will speak to them and give them the people of South Africa’s vooma so that they should go and do well in the soccer field.”
