US President Joe Biden says he’s the best qualified to govern and the best qualified to win. Biden was responding to questions from journalists at the conclusion of the NATO Summit in Washington.

With pressure building from quarters within the Democratic Party that he exit the presidential race after his halting debate performance two weeks ago, Biden said he was determined to run.

It’s unclear whether last night’s performance will do enough to stem that rising political tide over concerns about his viability against Republican presumptive nominee Donald Trump.

Biden’s night was not without gaffes. Before the presser he referred to Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy as President Putin before catching himself and later, responding to a question about what concerns he may have about Vice President Kamala Harris’ ability to beat Trump, he referred to her as Vice President Trump.

But he also gave substantive answers on domestic and foreign policy while at times meandering through his process.

He said he was willing to have a neurological exam if the doctors recommended such but touted his record of accomplishment as proof he was up to the job.

The US President said he believed staying in the race was the best call and that he was not doing this for his legacy but to complete the job he’d started.
