September is Heart Awareness Month (HAM). The Heart and Stroke Foundation of South Africa is driving the campaign, which focuses on heart health and the risk factors linked with it.

Among the noncommunicable illnesses cluster, heart disease and strokes have the largest disease burden in South Africa.
