The South African Human Rights Commission and the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities Rights Commission say the 2021 unrest was racially driven between Blacks and Indians.

The two organisations have just released their investigative reports into widespread looting and violence in Durban.

The riots started in KwaZulu-Natal and spread to Gauteng in July 2021.
